The creation of a Digital Highstreet was our solution to the Future Wimbledon Competition. It was a response to the national and global problem of the homogeneity of the high street - with chain stores stripping them of diversity and character. The concept of the Digital Highstreet is to provide local businesses with the opportunity to compete on the high street via a new physical layer of retail infrastructure that mingles with and complements the old traditional high street. So whilst this is an idea focused on the enhancement of local business, bringing colour and diversity back to Wimbledon town centre, it will also create a connected system. This will allow local business in Wimbledon to connect with the wider world in an exciting new way, raising the profile and opportunities of the town and its people.
